Nursery at Beanfield Primary School

Last reviewed: October 2026 · Inspection data and key information above update regularly, however, this review below is refreshed bi-annually and may not reflect recent changes. Contact the nursery directly to confirm current arrangements. If you spot anything outdated or inaccurate, please let us know.

At a Glance

Conversation characterised Beanfield’s early years at the October 2022 inspection: adults joined children’s play and helped them describe what they were discovering. This is the nursery within Beanfield Primary School, on Farmstead Road in Corby, rather than a separate childcare setting. Its learning forms the beginning of the school’s curriculum.

Ofsted judged the school’s early years provision Good following the inspection on 11 and 12 October 2022. That judgement covers early years within the school; it is not a separate nursery rating.

The Nursery Day

Play, stories and conversation shape the learning approach. The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) brings together movement, relationships and communication with early reading, mathematics, creativity and exploring the world. In parent terms, learning involves both developing everyday skills and beginning to understand words, numbers and ideas.

Speaking and listening receive explicit attention through storytelling and role play. Children have opportunities to practise explaining themselves, rather than simply listening to adults. Learning experiences respond to children’s interests and individual needs, with provision adjusted as the year progresses. Exploration takes place outside as well as indoors, and children are encouraged to question and experiment.

In October 2022, adults supported language development by joining play and naming movements, including rolling and sliding. Questions helped children use their understanding of the world. This gives everyday play a teaching purpose: an action becomes something a child can describe and discuss.

Checking learning. The same inspection called for more consistent assessment extending from early years onwards, so that teaching could respond more clearly to gaps in understanding. For families, how staff identify the next learning step remains a useful point to consider alongside the emphasis on talk and exploration.

Care and Support

Relationships between adults and children in early years were positive in October 2022. The school’s EYFS approach also emphasises relationships with families and adapting learning to the individual child.

Support extends beyond the classroom. The school’s SEN co-ordinators work with parents, other agencies and the wellbeing team. A centrally situated Wellbeing office operates an open-door approach, giving families a contact point for welfare and emotional support. The team also helps co-ordinate Early Help Assessments, bringing family needs into a shared support plan.

For school meals, orders are made through Wisepay by midnight on Wednesday. The school says its meals accommodate different dietary preferences and needs. These are school-wide arrangements, rather than a statement of nursery meal entitlement.

Moving On to Reception

Nursery attendance does not guarantee a Reception place. Families must make a separate Reception application through North Northamptonshire Council’s Parent Portal.

For September 2026 entry, the application window ran from 10 September 2025 to 15 January 2026. Those dates belong to a past admissions cycle. Treat choosing the nursery and applying for Reception as separate decisions, with the Reception application made through the normal council process by the deadline for the relevant entry year.

Practical Information

Contact the school office at admin@beanfieldprimary.org or on 01536 262000 for enquiries. The school’s contact form also allows families to select the office or wellbeing team directly.

Beanfield does not require branded school uniform. A sharing shed on the school site holds second-hand uniform and opens before and after school, providing a practical way for families to reuse clothing.

FAQs

No. Families must apply separately for Reception through North Northamptonshire Council.

The EYFS approach uses play, exploration and interaction, with particular attention to speaking and listening through stories, conversation and role play.

Early years provision was judged Good at the school’s inspection on 11 and 12 October 2022. This was a school inspection, not a separate nursery inspection.

The mainstream SEN team can be contacted at senteam@beanfieldprimary.org. The school’s SEN co-ordinators work with families and other agencies.
