Daisies marks the start of nursery life at Corby Primary Academy: children join at age three, with school routines beginning in the Nursery Year. This is the academy’s own nursery provision on Butland Road in Corby, rather than a separate childcare setting.
Ofsted graded the school’s early years provision Good at the inspection on 13 and 14 May 2025. That judgement covers early years within the school; it is not a separate nursery rating.
Learning how to take part in school life begins here. Children start practising the school’s behaviour routines in the Nursery Year, with responsibility increasing as they grow older. For a young child, those routines give the day a framework alongside learning activities: participation and expectations are part of the experience from the beginning.
Checking learning. In May 2025, staff did not consistently make sure that early years activities produced the learning intended, leaving gaps for some children. The practical concern is what a child learns from an activity, rather than simply whether they take part. Families should pay attention to how staff explain a child’s understanding and their next learning steps.
For children who need additional help, the academy’s support structure includes individual work and small groups, delivered inside or outside the classroom. Targeted interventions are monitored, while children on the SEND register have personalised learning targets. These are school-wide arrangements, giving families a route for discussing support as their child begins nursery.
Speech and language therapy, Autism Outreach and the Educational Psychology Service are among the academy’s SEND provision. Visual timetables and individual workstations also form part of its support offer. The distinction matters: support can involve adapting classroom activities as well as specialist input, rather than necessarily taking a child away from their peers.
Parents with concerns about learning can speak to their child’s teacher or arrange a discussion directly with the SENDCo. Review meetings, individual education plans and recorded intervention outcomes provide ways to follow progress and discuss whether support needs adjusting.
Nursery attendance does not guarantee a Reception place. Families must make a separate Reception application through the local authority process, so choosing Daisies and choosing a school place are separate decisions.
For entry in September 2027, applications must reach the local authority by 5pm on 15 January 2027. Later applications are treated as late and considered in the next allocation round; offers follow in April 2027. Keep that deadline distinct from nursery arrangements. Becoming familiar with school routines is part of a child’s experience here, but should not be treated as an admissions advantage.
The academy is on Butland Road, Corby, NN18 8QA. Nursery enquiries can go to the school office on 01536 430510 or to admin@corbyprimaryacademy.org; an online contact form also accepts a message and email address.
School news and calendar events can be followed through the School News app. That gives families another way to keep track of academy notices alongside direct contact with the office.
