Pips has a Forest School leader who also works with the school’s early years children. That staffing connection links Chirton’s on-site preschool with the primary school around it. This is a preschool on a school site, with practical contact between the settings.
In May 2023, the preschool was managed by a separate committee. That distinction matters: the preschool and the school should not be treated as interchangeable when considering care arrangements or inspection judgements.
Pips’ Forest School leader also runs outdoor sessions for the school’s early years children. Those sessions take place at the school’s dedicated Forest site, and the leader supplies materials and suggestions for exploring the surroundings. This gives the school’s outdoor teaching a direct staffing connection with the preschool.
Support within the wider school includes a SENCO and an ELSA Lead, whose role concerns emotional literacy. Individual SEND interventions depend on a child’s needs. The school’s approach combines learning alongside peers with adjustments to teaching, so support is organised around the individual rather than a single fixed programme.
Before a child starts school, staff work with parents and supporting agencies where additional needs have already been identified. Parents remain involved in decisions about assessment and outside help. This makes discussion of existing needs part of planning the move into school.
School meals are prepared on site, with provision for allergies and diets including vegetarian, dairy-free and gluten-free options. These are school meal arrangements; families considering the preschool should distinguish them from their child’s booked session pattern.
Attending Pips does not guarantee a Reception place. Families must make a separate school application through the normal admissions process. Wiltshire residents apply online through Wiltshire Council; families living elsewhere use their home local authority’s common application form.
For September 2026 entry, the deadline was midnight on 15 January 2026. That admissions cycle is now past. The preschool’s working relationship with the school supports transition, but it is separate from the allocation of a school place.
