Schools in Devizes

Granted a charter in 1141, Devizes grew around a Norman castle that witnessed some of the English Civil War's sharpest turns, including the Royalist victory at the Battle of Roundway Down in 1643. Standing at the west edge of the Vale of Pewsey on the northwestern fringe of Salisbury Plain in Wiltshire, the market town of around 17,000 carries nearly five hundred listed buildings in a compact centre anchored by the Corn Exchange of 1857 and Wadworth Brewery.

West Lavington, Market Lavington, and Great Cheverell form the school-competitive arc of villages to the south, drawing families attentive to primary catchments. All Cannings lies northeast along the vale. Pewsey station, eleven miles east on the Great Western Main Line, puts Bath and Bristol within the hour.
