A compact Cheshire market town of around 9,000 people, Frodsham looks west over the River Mersey estuary and sits above the River Weaver valley in Cheshire West and Chester, retaining its weekly Thursday market from its medieval days as a borough and port of the Earls of Chester. St. Laurence's parish church, whose nave has stood since the 12th century and is noted in the Domesday Book, remains the architectural centrepiece of the town.
The Chester-Manchester railway line connects Frodsham to both cities. Helsby, the school-competitive village to the west, draws families competing for primary places, with Overton completing the main residential catchment.
