Schools in Halstead

One of Essex's smaller market towns, Halstead lies along the River Colne in the Braintree district, between Braintree to the south and Colchester to the east. Around 13,000 people lived in the parish at the 2021 census.

Sible Hedingham and Great Yeldham, set in the Colne Valley to the north, are the most school-competitive settlements in this part of Essex, drawing families who rely on Halstead for secondary-age provision across a wide rural catchment. Ridgewell lies further east. Braintree station, around six miles to the south on the Greater Anglia network, provides the nearest rail connection to Chelmsford and Colchester.
