Set within the rolling clay farmland and wooded hills of the High Weald in West Sussex, Haywards Heath expanded from a heathland hamlet into a commuter town of around 31,000 after the Brighton Main Line reached the area in 1841.

Lindfield and Cuckfield, the well-preserved historic villages on the northern edge of town, are among the most sought-after pockets for primary catchments in mid-Sussex, while Ardingly draws families looking for selective secondary options. Southern and Thameslink services from Haywards Heath station reach London Bridge and St Pancras International in around fifty minutes. Brighton is under twenty minutes south.
