Nursery at Iveson Primary School

Royal blue sweatshirts give Iveson Ladybirds their own identity within Iveson Primary School. This is the school's nursery provision, based on Iveson Rise in Tinshill, Leeds. The nursery uniform distinguishes its youngest group while keeping it part of the wider school setting.
Early reading and number learning form part of the early years foundation stage (EYFS) here. In October 2024, Ofsted identified planned teaching in both class and smaller group settings that developed these skills. For parents, that means early learning includes time working with adults in different group sizes.
Speech and language work adds another strand. Early Talk Boost operates across EYFS, alongside small group support for storytelling and speech sounds. Where children need additional speech and language provision, staff coordinate programmes prescribed by the NHS Speech Therapy Service. These are specific routes for supporting communication, with specialist programmes linked to a child's needs.
Children with additional needs are allocated a Key Worker and receive help from additional support staff to access learning. That is a targeted arrangement for children who need extra help. It gives families a defined support role to discuss, rather than treating additional needs solely as a classroom matter.
The wider school's inclusion team brings together responsibility for SEND, nurture, attendance and family support. Families also have access to signposting through SENDIASS for questions about special educational needs and disabilities, and STARS for autism advice and training. These organisations serve different purposes: one helps families with SEND concerns, while the other supplies autism expertise.
Communication includes a Nursery Blog. Class blogs carry classroom stories, updates and ideas for supporting learning at home, giving parents a way to connect home activities with what children are learning.
Nursery attendance does not guarantee a Reception place. Families must make a separate Reception application through the normal admissions route and meet the deadline for their child's entry year.
Leeds City Council's online application route is www.leeds.gov.uk/apply. For the September 2026 entry cycle, the application deadline was 15 January 2026; that cycle is now past. Keep the nursery decision and the Reception application as separate tasks. Familiarity with the school should never replace an application.
The school-day information gives a nursery afternoon finish of 3:10pm, with collection gates opening at 3pm. Those timings matter when coordinating collection with work or another child's school day.
Iveson Ladybirds wear a royal blue sweatshirt. The uniform information identifies separate nursery ordering forms, so families should use the nursery option when ordering.
For enquiries, contact the school on 0113 2256868 or email parentcontact@iveson-primary.co.uk. A contact form provides another route. School visits can be arranged by email. Ask whether a visit can include the nursery.
