Nursery at Clockhouse Primary School

First-floor classrooms and a roof terrace feature in Clockhouse Primary School’s plans for new school premises. Nursery provision belongs to an independent Orthodox Jewish school for boys, whose registered age range begins at 3. The school’s capacity of 222 covers the whole school, rather than a nursery allocation.
The timing matters. In November 2025, the school had no pupils on roll and was preparing to admit its first intake in April 2026. The premises described here were proposed premises at that point. Those plans give families a picture of the intended setting, rather than an account of children’s experience after opening.
The proposed accommodation places teaching rooms on the first floor at 149 Stamford Hill. Eight classrooms, a hall and smaller spaces intended for interventions or staff use form the school’s layout. These are school facilities: they should not be read as eight nursery classrooms. The hall was intended to accommodate larger group activities and indoor breaks, giving those activities a space beyond the classrooms.
Outdoor provision had two distinct elements. A rear outdoor area was considered large enough for play and physical education, while a roof terrace had planning permission for conversion into a playground. Leaders intended to finish that work by the end of February 2026; that was a planned completion date. Walks to a local playground and open spaces also had activity risk assessments.
The rear area involves access shared with an adjacent synagogue at certain times. Supervision, security and periods reserved exclusively for school use were therefore part of the arrangements. For a young child’s outdoor day, the distinction between shared access and reserved play time matters.
Care facilities were assessed with younger children in mind in November 2025. Two pupil toilet areas were suitable for the registered ages, including early years children, and had handwashing facilities. A medical room beside a toilet also had handwashing provision and was intended to remain separate from teaching use. Drinking water was labelled, and water temperatures were controlled to limit scalding risks.
School safeguarding arrangements included trained staff with safeguarding responsibilities, procedures for recording and referring welfare concerns, and plans for staff training. These were preparations made before pupils joined. They establish the intended safety arrangements, rather than an assessment of nursery care in operation.
Attending the nursery does not guarantee a Reception place. Ask the school about Reception application requirements before choosing a nursery place.
The proposed entrance had a secure entry system at street level, with the school’s own entrance and exit doors. A separately registered early years setting occupied the ground floor and had its own access; it should not be confused with Clockhouse’s nursery provision.
