Nursery is the starting point of Limebrook’s educational ambition: the school describes children’s learning journey as beginning here. This is the nursery attached to Limebrook Primary School and Nursery on Tempest Road in Maldon, within the Lion Academy Trust. For families, the defining connection is to the school community, while the decision about a later Reception place remains separate.
There is no Ofsted graded rating yet. That matters when weighing the school’s ambitions against independently assessed provision.
Before the planned September 2024 opening, the introduction covered early-years curriculum and assessment, putting learning alongside the practical discussion of places and premises.
Limebrook’s stated aim is to give children the best possible start to their learning journey, beginning in nursery. This is an educational starting point in the school’s own vision.
Safeguarding arrangements cover both the school and nursery. Staff receive safeguarding training regularly, and the team includes a safeguarding lead and a deputy. This gives families a defined team to approach with concerns about a child’s welfare.
The school records incidents that cause concern and involves parents, carers and other agencies when necessary under its safeguarding procedures. It also aims to make children and adults comfortable raising worries about themselves or someone else. For parents, communication about safety is therefore part of the school’s stated approach, rather than something reserved for an emergency.
CCTV monitors the school site. Recruitment and visitor procedures also form part of the safeguarding arrangements, addressing both who works with children and who accesses the premises.
Oversight extends beyond the staff team: a parental advisory body at each trust school has a remit covering standards and safeguarding, with a route to the trust board through its subcommittees.
Attending the nursery does not guarantee a Reception place. Families must make a separate Reception application even if their child already attends a school nursery. Applications use the Common Application Framework through Essex, either online or on paper. Nursery enrolment should therefore be treated as a decision about the nursery years, with the later school application handled separately.
For September 2026 entry, the application window ran from 4 November 2025 to 15 January 2026. That cycle is now past. Where applications exceed places, allocation follows the school’s admission criteria; joining nursery does not replace that process.
