Nursery at Holy Trinity CofE Primary School

At a Glance

Christian faith gives Holy Trinity its identity: families choosing the school are expected to support its ethos, and participation in worship and religious education is encouraged. This is the context for its nursery provision in Northwood, on Rickmansworth Road.

Nursery status needs care. The admissions pages for the 2021–22 and 2022–23 cycles carry a nursery closure notice, linking a letter dated 15 November 2021. The later 2023–24 admissions page directs nursery applicants to the School Office for an update about places. Those historical notices matter when considering this provision; they should not be read as an offer of a place today.

The Nursery Day

Vocabulary was a specific part of early learning in May 2023. Leaders had selected the words children needed for mathematics and literacy, giving these areas a defined language focus rather than leaving the choice of vocabulary incidental.

Ofsted graded the school's early years provision Good at its inspection on 4 and 5 May 2023. That judgement covers early years within the school; it is not a separate nursery inspection or a nursery-only rating.

Care and Support

The school's SEND arrangements give parents a clear starting point for concerns about their child's learning: speak to the class teacher, who discusses observations with the SENCO. The SENCO works alongside families, school staff, the local authority and outside professionals. That creates a route for bringing educational concerns to the people responsible for arranging support.

Early identification and intervention are the stated priorities. The school provides reasonable adjustments for children with SEND to support their learning and development. Its inclusion policy describes additional support being recorded in an Individual Learning Plan, with parents involved in setting targets and reviewing progress.

Reviews take place each term. Outside professionals may contribute when a child continues to make insufficient progress despite substantial support. These are school-wide arrangements, rather than a description of a nursery key-person system. For SEND enquiries, the contact is sendco@holytrinitynorthwood.org.

Moving On to Reception

Nursery attendance does not guarantee a Reception place. Families must make a separate Reception application through the normal admissions process and meet the applicable deadline. Treat choosing nursery and applying for Reception as two decisions.

Holy Trinity's admissions page lists different supplementary forms for nursery and Reception. Familiarity with the school should therefore never be treated as confirmation that a Reception place has been allocated.

Practical Information

The School Office is the contact for nursery applications and updates about places. General enquiries can be made on 01923 822529 or by emailing admin@holytrinitynorthwood.org. The address is Rickmansworth Road, Northwood, Middlesex HA6 2RH.

Office hours are 8am to 4pm. These are the office's opening times, so use them for contacting the administration team rather than planning a child's nursery session.

FAQs

No. Reception requires a separate application through the normal admissions process.

The 2021–22 and 2022–23 admissions pages link a nursery closure letter dated 15 November 2021. The 2023–24 page directs families to the School Office for an update about nursery places.

Early years provision was graded Good at the school's Ofsted inspection on 4 and 5 May 2023. This was not a separate nursery judgement.

Start with the class teacher. The SENCO can also be contacted at sendco@holytrinitynorthwood.org.
