Pirate stories, a garden shape hunt and creatures imagined from a chameleon story give Brady’s nursery its character: learning through books, conversation and practical activity. This is the nursery within Brady Primary School on Wennington Road in Rainham. Its class news gives families concrete examples of what children have been exploring, from counting objects to preparing a performance.
Stories provide a starting point for several kinds of learning. In the update dated 12/06/2026, Pirates Love Underpants accompanied work on sea creatures and investigations into which objects float or sink. Children sorted and matched, connected quantities with numerals and counted pretend treasure coins. A familiar theme links vocabulary, early mathematics and exploration, giving children several ways to engage with the same ideas.
The garden is part of this practical learning. On 5/06/2026, Shark in the Dark accompanied beach pretend play and a search outdoors for flat shapes. Children also practised recognising numbers up to 10 and counting objects individually. These examples show mathematical ideas being explored through objects and movement, alongside imaginative play.
Early reading has a named approach: Read Write Inc., used in the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). For parents, the nursery examples show how early learning combines work with sounds, number activities and practical experiences. The 3/07/2026 update included revision of Set 1 RWI sounds alongside learning about solid shapes. The Mixed-Up Chameleon prompted children to talk about their individuality and invent creatures of their own.
Ofsted’s inspection on 27 and 28 April 2022 described nursery teaching that connected sounds with their written letters. More recent class examples add hands-on work: on 10/07/2026, children painted, explored water and manipulated playdough to exercise the small movements of their hands. They also rehearsed a graduation performance and discussed achievements they felt proud of. Learning here includes expression as well as practice.
Families can follow nursery activity through dated class updates. These describe both learning and shared occasions: parents attended the Nursery Graduation and Sports Day on 17/07/2026. That gives families a point of connection with children’s experiences beyond individual activities.
Food also appears as something children prepare. During Healthy Eating Week, they chopped fruit and added yogurt to assemble their own bowls. This brought food preparation into a practical nursery activity. Separately, the school’s Summer Term 2026 lunch information linked Havering Catering menus, including halal options, menus excluding gluten or dairy, and allergen information.
For inclusion enquiries, the school provides a SENDCO contact route. Its Inclusion page links a SEND Information Report, SEND Policy and Accessibility Plan, giving families documents to consult alongside that contact.
Attending Brady’s nursery does not guarantee a Reception place. Families must make a separate Reception application through the normal admissions process and meet the applicable deadline. Treat the nursery choice and the Reception application as separate decisions; participation in nursery activities does not secure admission.
Nursery applications use an online form linked from the Nursery Applications page. The same page directs families to nursery uniform information and a Nursery Prospectus, making it the starting point for an application and preparation for attendance.
The school office can be reached on 01708 555025, and the Contact Us page includes a message form. Brady’s address is Wennington Road, Rainham, RM13 9XA.
