Schools in Saffron Walden

A market town of around seventeen thousand in the Uttlesford farmland of northwest Essex, Saffron Walden has preserved its medieval street plan and many timber-framed buildings from the era when saffron cultivation drove the local economy. The town's parish extends to include Audley End, whose Jacobean house and grounds mark the southern edge of the settlement.

Saffron Walden itself is among the most school-competitive areas in Uttlesford, while Newport draws families from the surrounding parishes competing for primary places. Audley End station, on the West Anglia Main Line, puts Cambridge within about twenty minutes. Clavering and Great Chesterford lie to the north.
