A shared early years class gives Partney’s pre-school its character: children aged 3 to 4 belong to Maddison Class, alongside Reception. This is the nursery provision within Partney Church of England Aided Primary School, with an EYFS teacher providing activities through the day. The connection with school life starts here.
The surroundings are rural, with hilly fields behind the school and Spilsby approximately 2 miles away. Compassion, courage and curiosity are the school’s guiding values. At the inspection on 7 and 8 May 2025, early years provision was judged Good; that judgement covers the school’s early years provision rather than a separately inspected nursery.
Morning, afternoon and whole-day attendance give families several ways to shape the nursery week. A morning finishes before lunch, while the longer afternoon option includes lunchtime. Whole-day children stay from 9am to 3pm, bringing learning and lunch into one continuous day.
EYFS means the Early Years Foundation Stage. At Partney, the early years emphasis includes play, songs, rhymes and developing children’s vocabulary. In May 2025, adults introduced unfamiliar words and prompted children to try them in conversation. The purpose is practical: children build the language they need to express themselves and talk with others.
Pre-school children also interact with Reception children during play. That makes contact with the older early years group part of their experience before the next stage. Outdoor learning is a school emphasis too: the school says it enjoys taking learning outside and encouraging children’s interests and self-expression.
Lunch comes with a choice. Families can provide a packed lunch or order a hot meal online from Ideal School Meals. This lets parents choose between food brought from home and the school’s meal service. Lunch is included in the whole-day timetable and in the afternoon session beginning at noon; hot meals are paid for separately.
Communication with the office matters for day-to-day care. Parents are asked to keep contact numbers, medical information and allergy details up to date, and can pass changes on by telephone, email, a note or a conversation.
For inclusion, the school aims to help children participate fully and challenges discrimination and stereotypes. Its stated approach includes adapting teaching to the children it serves.
Sharing Maddison Class creates familiarity with Reception children, but it does not secure admission. A pre-school place does not guarantee a Reception place at Partney.
The applications are separate: parents apply to the school for pre-school, then apply again for Reception through Lincolnshire County Council’s online school admissions route by the normal deadline. Classroom contact is useful preparation for change; it should be kept separate from the decision about allocating a school place.
The morning runs from 9am to noon. Afternoon attendance is noon to 3pm, including lunch, or 1pm to 3pm. The whole-day option runs from 9am to 3pm and includes lunchtime. These choices make the lunch boundary an important part of selecting a session.
Both 15-hour and 30-hour funded entitlements are offered. Wraparound care also accepts pre-school children: Breakfast Club starts at 7:30am, and After School Club ends at 5:15pm. Those extensions can help families fit attendance around work.
Apply for pre-school through the school office, which supplies information and application forms. Contact the school on 01790 753319 or enquiries@partney.lincs.sch.uk. For current charges, contact the school.
