A reading den, a bike track and a sensory zone give All Saints’ youngest children several different ways to spend a session. Nursery children belong to a combined Nursery and Reception class at All Saints Church of England Primary School Stockport, on Churchill Street in Heaton Norris. The shared class shapes everyday life, with children coming together for registration and group activities.
Ofsted graded early years provision Good at the inspection on 19 and 20 November 2024. That judgement covers the school’s early years provision, rather than a separately inspected nursery.
Play and shared activities both have a place here. Children gather for dancing, singing and stories, then have distinct areas for different kinds of exploration. The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) provision brings early learning into these everyday experiences. In November 2024, nursery rhymes and singing helped children build language, while staff supported their ability to communicate. For parents, the emphasis is on children developing the skills to express themselves and take part.
Inside, an open-plan layout includes a home-play area, a construction zone and a reading den. These give children space for imaginative play, building and books. The sensory zone adds a light table, bubble tubes, soft-play equipment and a trampoline. Two teaching areas have interactive whiteboards, allowing group teaching alongside the play spaces.
Outdoor provision has plenty of movement and making. Children can use trikes and bikes on the track, experiment with water play, or use equipment for building dens and larger constructions. A grassy hill adds a different surface to explore. Outdoor learning also extends to the school’s field and forest area. In November 2024, early years experiences included museum visits and walks nearby, taking learning beyond the classroom.
For parents considering the first weeks of nursery, the November 2024 inspection offers useful reassurance about adjustment: children settled quickly.
The team includes an EYFS lead teacher, a higher-level teaching assistant and a teaching assistant. Class Dojo carries weekly updates, giving families a regular connection with classroom life. Children eat lunch together in the school hall, making mealtime part of the shared class routine.
For concerns about special educational needs or disabilities (SEND), the class teacher is the first contact, followed by the SEND coordinator. Appointments can be arranged through the office. This gives parents a clear route to discuss their child’s needs with the teaching and inclusion team.
Nursery attendance does not guarantee a Reception place. Families must make a separate Reception application through the normal admissions process. All Saints follows Stockport Metropolitan Borough Council’s procedure: parents apply online through its nursery and school admissions route by the council’s deadline.
Sharing a class means nursery children already use the same learning spaces and join activities with Reception children. That offers everyday familiarity with the setting and routines. It should be considered separately from the application for a school place.
The 15-hour nursery place can be taken in the morning, from 8.30am to 11.30am, or in the afternoon, from noon to 3pm. Some 30-hour places are also offered, alongside the option to add time to half-day sessions. The morning and afternoon patterns give families two distinct collection schedules.
For enquiries, email admin@allsaints.stockport.sch.uk or telephone 0161 510 8000. The office also arranges school visits during the working day, giving parents an opportunity to see the setting while it is in use.

Some 30-hour places are offered, and half-day sessions can be topped up.
