Nursery at Ankermoor Primary Academy

Two organisations shared this primary school site in June 2023. At Ankermoor Primary Academy in Bolehall, Tamworth, the nursery was operated by Our pride, our joy limited, a separately registered provider, at that time. That arrangement distinguished nursery management from academy management.
The nursery occupies the school site on Rene Road. For families considering the setting, keep the childcare relationship and the later school application separate from the outset.
Registered early years settings must observe children's progress over time and arrange support for children with special educational needs or disabilities. For parents, this means developmental observations and additional support form part of their child's early education.
There is a concrete example of nursery participation in the wider school community. During the 2022–2023 academic year, nursery children took part in a police firework-safety session alongside other classes. The learning covered Bonfire Night and Divali, connecting safety messages with celebrations children may encounter beyond the setting. This is a dated example of an activity, rather than a description of the current session timetable.
Parents have a role in shaping additional support. For early years children with special educational needs (SEN), the support process involves assessing difficulties, agreeing a plan, putting it into practice and reviewing its effect. Your observations help establish what a child needs; the review checks whether the agreed help is working and whether it needs changing.
Registered early years provision must make adjustments for disabled children and avoid discrimination. Children with more complex or severe SEN may need an Education, Health and Care assessment. This provides a route to considering support beyond the setting's usual arrangements.
At academy level, families can contact the SEND team at send@ankermoor.org. The school's approach includes meetings with parents to plan and review individual learning support. These are school arrangements. Given the nursery's separate management in June 2023, families should confirm who now takes responsibility for concerns about a nursery child.
Nursery attendance does not guarantee a Reception place at Ankermoor. Families must make a separate Reception application through the normal admissions process and meet the applicable deadline. Treat choosing childcare and applying for school as two decisions.
Familiarity with the site is separate from entitlement to admission. Participation in activities with the academy does not, by itself, establish an admissions advantage. Keep that distinction clear when planning the next stage of your child's education.
Nursery children use the Nursery gate for both drop-off and collection. That gives families a specific handover point, separate from the route used by older pupils.
For an initial enquiry, the academy office can be reached at office@ankermoor.org or on 01827 213780. School tours can be arranged through the office at a time that suits parents or carers. A tour offers a way to understand the school site; it should be distinguished from booking a nursery session.
