Relationships give Hillingdon’s early years provision its clearest character. In February and March 2024, the curriculum had a clear structure and placed substantial emphasis on children building relationships. For a young child beginning nursery, that makes the social side of learning an important part of the choice.
This is Hillingdon Primary School’s own nursery, on Uxbridge Road in Hillingdon. Ofsted graded the school’s early years provision Good following its inspection on 29 February and 1 March 2024. That judgement covers early years within the school; it is not a separate nursery rating.
The early years learning environment was welcoming and engaging in February and March 2024. Together with the structured curriculum and emphasis on relationships, this gives parents a useful starting point: consider how learning and social development work together for their child.
Hillingdon aims to develop children’s independence alongside their confidence. Its wider educational aims include creativity, solving problems and making choices, with children gradually taking more responsibility for learning. These are school aims rather than promises about particular nursery activities, but they explain the direction the school wants children’s development to take.
Starting nursery is treated as a partnership with parents. The school aims to make the beginning welcoming for both children and families, with opportunities to speak to staff and receive information in writing throughout admission. Those conversations give parents a route to explain their child’s needs before the start.
Emotional regulation. In February and March 2024, some children in early years needed additional help managing their emotions. Families should weigh that finding alongside the emphasis on relationships, especially if their child needs support with frustration or distress.
For SEND enquiries, the school’s SENCo also holds the Assistant Principal for Inclusion role. Parents can contact that team through SENCo@hillingdonprimaryschool.org.uk. Hillingdon aims to make both its physical surroundings and its curriculum accessible, so discussions can address participation as well as access to the building.
Attending this nursery does not guarantee a Reception place. Families must make a separate Reception application through the normal admissions process. The local authority coordinates Reception admissions, while The Elliot Foundation Academies Trust makes offer decisions against the school’s admission criteria.
For a child starting school for the first time, the London Borough of Hillingdon Admissions Team is the contact route, on 01895 556644. Keep that application separate from arrangements for the nursery: joining one does not complete the other.
Nursery enquiries go to admissions@hillingdonprimaryschool.org.uk or 01895 590087. Prospective parents can arrange a school visit through the office, providing an opportunity to discuss the start with staff.
The school entrance is on the south side of Uxbridge Road, beside a bus stop.
