A market town shaped by centuries of leather-working and metal trades, Walsall forms the administrative heart of the Metropolitan Borough of Walsall in The Black Country, West Midlands. Saddle and bridle-making defined its industrial character from the early nineteenth century, a legacy preserved in the Walsall Leather Museum. Around 269,000 people live across the borough.
Chase Line trains connect to Birmingham New Street in around twenty minutes. New Invention is widely regarded as one of Walsall's most school-competitive corners, drawing families focused on primary catchments across the north of the borough. Brownhills and Coalpool extend the borough's residential spread to the north and east, while Walsall Town Centre has been the focus of sustained regeneration.
