Songs, stories and the confidence to ask a question give Leamore's nursery its character. Language development is a clear strength: daily conversation and rhyme help children build vocabulary and express their ideas. This is the school's own nursery on Bloxwich Road in Walsall, with provision for two- and three-year-olds.
The Ofsted report dated 2 December 2025 judged early years to be at the Strong standard. That judgement covers Nursery and Reception together. For parents choosing the nursery, the useful detail is the combination of calm care, purposeful adult interaction and support that helps children take part in learning.
Communication runs through the day. Children hear stories, sing and explore rhymes, while adults help them put their thoughts into words and develop questions. These are practical foundations for joining conversations and understanding books. Talking is part of learning here.
The early years foundation stage (EYFS) curriculum develops knowledge across its learning areas, with particular attention to vocabulary. Staff track children's development closely, so activities and support can respond to how they are progressing. Early reading and writing also begin in nursery: phonics teaching starts here, and Leamore uses Little Wandle Letters and Sounds Revised. This gives families a named approach to the beginnings of reading.
The report published on 2 December 2025 describes children enjoying a story about a penguin in snow. Books provide a focus for early literacy, alongside the everyday conversations that help children contribute their own ideas. The emphasis is on participation as well as listening.
Care routines help children become more independent and confident. In that report, relationships between adults and children were affectionate and focused on learning, and children felt happy and secure. That matters for young children learning to manage a session away from home.
Targeted help enables disadvantaged children and those with special educational needs and/or disabilities to participate successfully in the early years curriculum. Close monitoring of development supports this work. Parents also take part in school visits and workshops about helping their child's learning at home, creating a practical connection between nursery learning and family life.
Nursery attendance does not guarantee a Reception place. Families must make a separate Reception application through the normal admissions process and meet the deadline for their entry year. Leamore directs school applications to the local authority, with a link to Walsall Metropolitan Borough Council's primary admissions service. Treat that application as a separate task when planning your child's next step.
The nursery timetable divides the week by age group. Three-year-olds attend on Monday and Tuesday from 8:50am to 3:00pm, followed by Wednesday from 8:50am to 11:30am. For two-year-olds, Wednesday runs from 12:20pm to 3:00pm; Thursday and Friday run from 8:50am to 3:00pm. The Wednesday changeover is a significant practical detail for organising work and collection.
