Nursery at St Anne's Church Primary School

Explorers, Discoverers and Adventurers give Little Learners its own identity within St Anne's Church Academy. These purpose-built nursery classrooms sit at West Wick, where children can join from age two. Play and exploration are the nursery's stated starting points, with access to school spaces extending what children can do beyond their own rooms.
This is the nursery at the West Wick campus, rather than the school's Hewish site. For families choosing between the two locations, that distinction matters from the outset: the nursery day takes place within the West Wick school setting.
The outdoor area extends the classroom, so learning has space beyond indoor activities. Alongside the three named classrooms, children have access to playing fields and a trim trail. Those spaces give physical play a place in the nursery's provision, rather than confining the day to table activities.
Cooking has a concrete setting too. In the learning street, children can use an equipped kitchen for cooking activities. That gives them practical experiences alongside play and exploration. Access to the school's large hall, used for dining and sport, adds another shared space to the nursery's own rooms.
In May 2022, Ofsted found that nursery children enjoyed exploring activities prepared by adults and were ready for the start of Reception. That is a dated finding about Little Learners itself. It supports a picture of children actively engaging with planned experiences, rather than a claim about the school's overall results.
School meals are an option within the nursery's session arrangements. The nursery and school are nut-free, and families must report any allergies. A Special Diet referral form is obtained through the school office. For parents managing food allergies, these are practical steps to build into preparations before their child starts.
Support also connects to the wider school team. The SENCo / Inclusion Leader can meet parents by appointment through the school offices. West Wick's building is purpose-built for accessibility, with two accessible toilets and a wet-room-style shower. These are campus facilities, rather than features of a separately described nursery care room.
Attending Little Learners does not guarantee a Reception place. Families must make a separate Reception application through the normal admissions process and meet its deadline. North Somerset Admissions is the contact for admissions information.
An application to St Anne's covers both campuses. Families must also return a supplementary information form (SIF) indicating whether they prefer West Wick or Hewish. North Somerset Admissions allocates the site using the admissions criteria; expressing a preference does not secure that campus. Keep the choice of nursery separate from expectations about a later school place.
Both age groups, two-year-olds and three- and four-year-olds, have the same session patterns: Morning runs from 8:00am to 1:00pm, Afternoon from 1:00pm to 6:00pm, Short Day from 8:00am to 4:00pm and All Day from 8:00am to 6:00pm. Early Bird covers 7:30am to 8:00am. The different finishing times give families concrete options to compare with their working day.
