The town occupies North Somerset between Worlebury Hill and Bleadon Hill, carrying the physical legacy of that Victorian expansion across its seafront terraces and promenade. Knightstone marks the older seafront quarter.
Settled since the Iron Age but still a small coastal village at the turn of the nineteenth century, Weston-super-Mare grew rapidly into a seaside resort once the railway arrived and the Grand Pier anchored the Bristol Channel seafront. Worle, the main residential area to the east, is among the most sought-after pockets for school catchments; Uphill, to the south, draws families competing for primary places, and Oldmixon forms a distinct community further inland. Around 82,000 people live in the town, with Weston-super-Mare station offering Great Western Railway services to Bristol Temple Meads in around fifty minutes.
