Moss Hall Playcentre is an out-of-school childcare setting based at Moss Hall Infant School, with space for 50 children. Its clearest strength is active, sociable play: at the July 2021 inspection, children used large outdoor areas for football, ball games and an obstacle course, while staff supported unusually kind and cooperative behaviour.
Ofsted found that the provision met requirements in July 2021 and that safeguarding arrangements were effective. This is not a day nursery offer; families should assess it as an out-of-school playcentre.
In July 2021, the playcentre operated from the school hall and used both indoor and outdoor areas. Children could run, play football and build coordination on an obstacle course. A fire-pit activity asked them to follow strict safety rules while toasting marshmallows, combining excitement with practical responsibility.
Creative work had continuity too. Basket weaving and paper-flower making were among the activities observed, and children could store unfinished projects to revisit later. The Early Years Foundation Stage applies to eligible younger children here, meaning children develop communication, physical, personal and wider areas of learning through play and adult support rather than school-style lessons.
In July 2021, children formed warm relationships with staff and settled readily into activities shaped around their interests. They listened to one another, shared ideas and encouraged peers during physical games. That matters in an out-of-school setting, where belonging and friendship can be as important as the activity itself.
Safeguarding was effective at that inspection. Staff checked rooms and equipment daily, assessed risks as activities unfolded and had regular safeguarding training. Ofsted also found strong partnerships with parents and effective communication across the staff team.
The playcentre is at Moss Hall Infant School, Moss Hall Grove, London N12 8PE. It has capacity for 50 children. Families need the provider's current details before relying on a particular attendance pattern or age range.
Moss Hall Playcentre suits families seeking school-linked out-of-school care built around active play, creativity and peer relationships. The 2021 inspection gives a positive, specific picture of children behaving kindly and using substantial outdoor space, but current session options must be established directly before it can be matched to a family's week.
