Playtime Preschool is a sessional early-years setting at Gordon Hall, 1 Huntly Drive, London N3 1NX. Ofsted judged it Good in October 2024, with effective safeguarding and Good judgements across education, behaviour, personal development and leadership.
The inspection describes a caring community where children make good progress. Warm relationships, language-rich stories and practical independence are the strongest threads.
The Early Years Foundation Stage shapes the provision: children learn through play across communication, physical, personal, social and early academic development. In October 2024, that meant role play with pretend cake and tea while staff introduced colour, number and counting. Children also explored mark-making, size and measure.
Books have real weight here. Older children answered questions during stories, while younger children repeated new vocabulary about sea creatures and the ocean. Staff also used visual props and small-group work to develop longer sentences and support children learning English as an additional language.
Daily garden use brought wheeled toys, climbing and exercise into the routine. Younger children investigated colourful textured materials, while self-care play with dolls developed imagination and independence.
New children formed close bonds with staff, who responded to individual needs, cultures and home languages. Children understood routines, listened to instructions and learned respect for different cultures and faiths.
Independence was practical: children washed their hands and served their own fruit snacks. Safeguarding arrangements were effective at the October 2024 inspection, and leaders worked with parents, specialist teachers and the local authority early-years adviser to meet children's needs.
The setting is based at 10th Finchley Scottish Scout Group, Gordon Hall, 1 Huntly Drive, London N3 1NX, and has 28 places in total. Families should request a current written quotation directly from the preschool.
