Ofsted's two improvement points were equally specific. Staff needed to allow children longer to answer questions and involve more children in group activities while sustaining attention.

Relationships were a clear strength in November 2022. Familiar songs helped children move between activities, while staff supported sharing, turn-taking and cooperation. Families contributed information during settling and received updates about learning and development, giving the key-person relationship useful continuity between home and nursery.

Children with special educational needs and/or disabilities made good progress through targeted interventions. Staff used home-language key words and repeated English vocabulary for children learning English as an additional language. School preparation covered independence, hygiene, introductory phonics, emotions and links with children's future schools.

Safeguarding was effective at the inspection. Staff understood how to identify and report welfare concerns, while recruitment and continuing suitability checks were in place.
