At its July 2023 inspection, Ofsted rated Hainault Forest Community Association Good and found warm relationships at the centre of children's experience. Children formed close attachments to staff, sought them out for reassurance and grew in confidence. Education, behaviour, personal development and leadership were all judged Good.

In July 2023, the baby room had a cosy sleep area. Staff watched over naps and let children wake naturally, a thoughtful arrangement for babies who need rest woven into the day rather than imposed on a fixed timetable.

Learning joined language, movement and early number work. Rhyming helped children who spoke English as an additional language build early communication, while older children practised initial sounds and ordered numbers to 10 through play. Indoors, babies and toddlers explored sand by scooping, squeezing, transferring and mark-making; outdoors, younger children had room to crawl. These experiences gave both small and large muscles purposeful practice.

Behaviour was taught through real routines rather than detached exercises. Older children helped clear away messy painting materials, and younger children waited calmly during the move back indoors. Staff's expectations were clear, but children also had space to express their personalities, question visitors and introduce their friends. That combination matters: confidence was not treated as the opposite of listening and cooperation.

The provision follows the Early Years Foundation Stage. In practical terms, this means staff plan experiences across children's communication, physical, personal and early academic development, then build from what each child already knows and can do.

Secure relationships shaped care at the July 2023 inspection. Familiar routines helped children feel capable, transitions between activities were calm, and staff encouraged practical independence: children washed paint from their arms, returned aprons to pegs and learned to use spoons with patient praise.

Parents spoke positively about staff and their children's progress. Regular conversations with each child's key person connected nursery learning with home. Staff also gathered dietary and allergy information and passed it to the chef, who prepared nutritious meals and snacks at that time.

Ofsted found safeguarding arrangements effective in July 2023. Staff understood how to recognise and report concerns, discussed safeguarding in staff meetings, and worked within thorough recruitment and induction arrangements. The management team observed and trained practitioners, while room leaders planned the curriculum with the manager. This gave improvement work a practical route into each room rather than leaving it at policy level.
