A button-operated world map and a support dog called Daisy give Roundabouts Pre-School Partnership a recognisable character: language and communication feature strongly in its July 2024 account of daily life. The Clevedon setting has 40 places in total.
At its July 2024 inspection, Ofsted rated the provision Good, found that children made good progress, including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND), and judged safeguarding effective. Children attending then were aged two to four. That age range describes the inspection period.
In July 2024, the main play room, role-play area, garden and sensory room gave children different spaces for activity. Outdoors, balance bikes supported movement, while a chalk board gave early writing a place alongside physical play. Children also matched spoken numbers to numerals displayed outside, bringing counting into an active game.
The early years foundation stage links learning, development and care; here, the July 2024 activities illustrate how play can build language, mathematical understanding and independence. Pretend smoothie-making led to a real snack-time activity: cutting fruit introduced fractions, and blending offered a practical example of materials changing. Children's ideas shaped what happened next.
Cooperation had everyday uses. In July 2024, older children included younger ones in play, and children helped each other clear away sand. A tambourine signalled that tidying would soon begin, making the change of activity predictable.
In July 2024, the world map let children hear their home languages through buttons. Staff knew those languages and responded sensitively to children's non-verbal communication. This gave communication a place beyond spoken English.
Daisy was a support dog in training at that time, used to help children feel calmer, especially when expressing their needs was difficult. Staff also sought external professional help and funding for children with SEND.
Families were involved in settling and received updates about experiences and development in July 2024. Invitations to stay-and-play sessions and the children's graduation ceremony gave parents opportunities to take part, alongside day-to-day communication.

In July 2024, opening hours ran from 8.30am to 4pm, Monday to Friday, during term time, with core hours from 9am to 3.30pm. Those timings describe the operation then, rather than a current booking promise. At that time, the setting received government early education funding for children aged two, three and four.
Roundabouts suits families drawn to play-led early learning and practical communication support: the July 2024 examples include the language map, sensory room and Daisy. Its Good judgement provides a clear inspection position, balanced by specific work required on quieter children's interactions and independent book use. For families considering term-time preschool care, that combination gives a useful basis for assessing the fit.
