Schools in Bideford

On the estuary of the River Torridge in north Devon, Bideford developed as a historic port town, its medieval bridge and long quay still defining the town centre's character. Around 18,000 people live here today.

The Torridge district fans out across coastal and rural parishes, with Northam among the most sought-after pockets for school catchments on the north Devon coast, and Monkleigh and Abbotsham drawing families towards smaller rural schools within reach of the town. Appledore and Hartland extend the catchment picture northward and westward, while road links along the A39 connect Bideford to Barnstaple, where the Tarka Line runs south to Exeter.
