Schools in Launceston

A hilltop market town of around ten thousand set above the River Kensey near the Cornwall-Devon border, Launceston served as county town of Cornwall until Bodmin took the role in 1838. The castle still dominates. Launceston Castle, raised around 1070 by Robert, Count of Mortain, anchors the town's skyline and shapes the hill-top character that defines this part of east Cornwall.

Egloskerry is widely regarded as one of the most school-competitive villages for primary catchments in the area, while Lewannick and South Petherwin sit within the town's broader rural school-draw. The A30, Cornwall's main road entry from Devon, bypasses the town to the south today, with Exeter reachable in under an hour.
