Schools in Calne

At a meeting of the Saxon Witan convened in 978, the town of Calne in Wiltshire played host to a celebrated ecclesiastical council at the edge of the North Wessex Downs, a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Around 19,000 people live here today.

Chippenham station, six miles to the west, puts Bath around twelve minutes away on Great Western Railway services, with Bristol a short ride further. Heddington and Kingsbury Green have long been the most school-competitive pockets in the catchment, with families in Quemerford and Cherhill drawn by Calne's compact offering of state primary places set against downland countryside.
