Schools in Kendal

A limestone market town of around 30,000 people, Kendal grew from a medieval wool trade centre into the administrative hub of Westmorland and Furness, sitting just outside the Lake District's southern edge. The ruined towers of Kendal Castle rise above the River Kent in a twelfth-century skyline that earned the town the sobriquet 'Auld Grey Town'.

Kendal is among the most sought-after areas in Cumbria for school catchments, with Kirkland, the old priory quarter, and Crosthwaite drawing families who compete most keenly for primary places. Hawesmead and Heron Hill ring the northeast edge. Trains from nearby Oxenholme Lake District station reach Lancaster in around twenty minutes on the West Coast Main Line.
