A flexible nursery timetable is the practical draw at St Michael's CofE Primary School. The school takes children from age three and publishes morning, afternoon and full-day options, with part-time attendance able to combine mornings and afternoons across some or all of the week. This is the school's own early-years provision on its Bounds Green Road site, rather than a separately registered nursery.

The nursery sits at the start of the school's Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). Ofsted's 2025 inspection described early years as the starting point for a carefully sequenced curriculum and judged the early-years provision Outstanding. That judgement is specific to early years, not a repurposed whole-school grade.

Morning sessions run from 8:45am to 11:45am, afternoons from 12:15pm to 3:15pm, and a full day from 8:45am to 3:15pm. Families can therefore choose a half-day pattern or a school-length day. Breakfast club begins at 7:30am and is available to nursery children, extending the morning for families who need it.

EYFS learning here is about building the communication, self-management and social foundations children need before formal schooling. Inspectors reported that early-years teaching develops children’s spoken communication and careful listening, while helping them work constructively with others and manage their feelings.

Inclusion is organised through a whole-school system. The school says it identifies learning, physical, emotional, behavioural and social needs, makes reasonable adjustments where practical, and may involve outside agencies. Parents with concerns about development are directed to speak to the class team or contact the school's inclusion lead through the office.

The school's inclusion information says support can involve outside agencies where needed. In nursery, the early-years evidence is clearest on daily personal development: children are taught to cooperate, listen and manage emotions from the outset.

Nursery attendance does not guarantee a Reception place. Families must make a separate Reception application through their home local authority using the common application form. The school's published 2026/27 oversubscription criteria prioritise children with the relevant care history, then siblings, then other children by distance; nursery attendance is not listed as a priority.

The school holds a nursery induction meeting in the summer term and explains its staggered entry arrangements there. That can make the start of nursery more measured, but it does not alter Reception admissions.

Applications for nursery go directly to the school using its nursery application form. The school asks for two proofs of the parent or legal guardian's address and the child's passport or birth certificate.
