Victorian and Edwardian terraces climb the wooded western ridge of Haringey, where Alexandra Palace commands views across north London. Created in 1965 from the amalgamation of three former boroughs, Haringey is home to around 262,000 residents. The terrain is striking. From high wooded ground in the west at 130 metres, the land falls sharply to the flat River Lea plain in the east, where Tottenham extends to the borough's boundary.

Muswell Hill and Highgate are among the most sought-after pockets for school catchments in the borough, and the school-competitive character extends through Wood Green, the borough's main commercial and transport hub in the centre. Crouch End fills the quieter ground between the prosperous western ridge and the central spine. Piccadilly line trains from Wood Green connect to King's Cross within the inner zone.
