Schools in Stevenage

Where the headwaters of the River Beane rise in the chalk country of north Hertfordshire, Stevenage became the United Kingdom's first designated New Town in 1946, its planned grid of cycle paths, pedestrian precincts, and separated road networks spreading outward from a medieval market settlement into a borough of around 94,000 residents. Shephall and Aston fill the southern residential arc.

Old Town, the pre-New Town core along the High Street, is among Stevenage's most sought-after pockets for school catchments, while Great Ashby to the north and Chells to the east form the school-competitive outer ring where families concentrate their searches. Stevenage station, on the East Coast Main Line, connects the town centre to London King's Cross in around 25 minutes.
