Community Vision Nursery

Community Vision Nursery has a clear strength in helping children do things for themselves. At its October 2023 inspection, Ofsted graded the provision Good and found babies calm and settled, older children confident, and learning planned to build on what children already knew. That dated judgement needs to be read beside more recent regulatory action.

A published record following a November 2025 telephone call required improvements across staffing, supervision, the key-person system, behaviour support and communication with families. The provider remained registered, but no later document in the frozen regulatory history confirmed completion by 21 August 2026.

The setting is registered for children from six months to five years at Community Vision Children's Centre, Chestnut Grove, London SE20 8PD. Its published record gives 50 registered places.

The October 2023 inspection described practical learning with real purpose. Babies handled large spoons while cooking; older children used utensils in an outdoor mud kitchen and worked together at a water-wheel structure. Children also balanced on planks, practised fine-motor control and developed counting through play.

The Early Years Foundation Stage is the framework behind this curriculum: activities should build children's communication, physical, personal and early academic development through play and responsive teaching. Here, the inspection found staff naming objects, repeating words with babies, sharing books and using rhymes and puppets. Older children spoke in full sentences, although inspectors wanted staff to extend their conversations further.

Warm relationships were a strength in October 2023. Flexible routines responded to babies' needs, while key-person knowledge and work with external professionals supported precise planning for children with SEND. Parents received guidance on toileting and early reading.

Safeguarding arrangements were effective at that inspection. However, the later 2025 action required greater vigilance, especially at sleep times, stronger manager support and better two-way information sharing. Families should judge the current position against evidence of the changes made since then.

The registration record describes full day care and an all-year opening schedule, with weekday opening and bank-holiday closures. Those hours are an opening window, not evidence of bookable session products: No provider-published booking pattern is currently published. Current funding participation, meals, consumables and nursery-specific prices were also not published, so families need a written quotation covering each category.

• Regulatory follow-through. Ask to see how every action required after the November 2025 call was completed, including supervision at sleep times and the key-person system. This is central to assessing current practice.
• Two-year-old routines. The 2023 inspection found that tidying sometimes took attention away from children waking from sleep. Ask how the revised routine now protects emotional wellbeing.
• Booking and costs. Obtain the current session menu and a written breakdown of funding, meals, consumables and other charges. The registration record alone does not establish what families can book.

This is a nursery with vivid inspection evidence of independent learning, books, practical activity and warm baby care. It may suit families seeking either full-day or half-day care, subject to confirming that both patterns are currently sold. The unresolved published regulatory follow-up is decisive: parents should require clear, current answers before choosing it.
