Schools in Tower Hamlets, London

The borough that completed more skyscrapers between 2014 and 2024 than any other English council, Tower Hamlets stretches from the traditional East End immediately east of the City of London to the regenerated London Docklands waterfront. Few inner-London boroughs have changed so visibly. Formed in 1965 and home to around 325,000 residents today, the borough has one of London's largest British Bangladeshi communities, a demographic that has shaped its social and cultural life for decades.

Whitechapel, served by the Hammersmith and City line and the Overground, has emerged as one of the borough's most school-competitive postcodes, drawing families who weigh state provision carefully. Wapping's riverside streets and the older terraces of Stepney lie to the west, while Bow and Poplar extend the eastern residential belt towards the borough boundary.
