Schools in Northampton

The town rose to national prominence through Northampton Castle, a royal Parliament venue, but the Great Fire of 1675 swept away much of what survived the Civil War, leaving the built character largely shaped by Georgian and Victorian rebuilding. Around 249,000 people live across the urban area.

Medieval market-town streets and Victorian red-brick terraces mix in the centre of Northampton, a county town set on the River Nene in the East Midlands. Hardingstone is among the most sought-after southern pockets for primary catchments; Billing draws families for the same reasons, and Yardley Hastings to the east has become a school-competitive corner of the wider borough. Wootton Fields and Upton mark the newer residential growth to the south and west. Northampton station links the town to London Euston via London Northwestern services and to Birmingham New Street through cross-country connections.
